I finally busted out these blue velvet heels that I picked up from Zara last year. The problem is that I kept them in the shoe box so I kept forgetting that I had them, so I never went for them when getting dressed. You can't really tell in these photos but they are velvet (so soft) and in a deep blue, I know they look black but I assure you they are not. They are a stunning shoe and lets just say the box has been thrown and they are displayed and will never be forgotten again. I paired them with some navy shorts, ivory button-up and this cute tiny bag I picked up from Forever 21 for only $22. Steal! The color + it's the perfect size for your phone (unless you have a 6+), lipstick, keys and your cards it's a great bag and perfect for the summer.

09 / Oxfords with a smile

Back with some navy culottes , I wore these last week to run errands and my husband was like "um those pants aren't very flattering on you!" My response was "i know but they're so comfortable & fun" which they are. I haven't dressed to flatter in quite some time I don't know why he was so stunned by that. I've never been that girl that shoes cleavage , short shorts, mini skirts or anything revealing - showing my collar bone is risqué enough for me. I always feel sexiest in the most casual outfits - that's always been me the minimalist. I found these on major sale ($14) at Old Navy and I didn't hesitate. I paired them with my most prized possession this Saint James tee I got for my birthday three years ago. Now lets talk about these oxfords I think oxfords are a must in anyone's wardrobe they are such a classic piece that can be worn with everything - literally everything. 

10 / Coffee + Flowers

I've been eyeing this wall for some time it's the perfect blogger wall, right? There's a coffee shop going up and I can't wait. My apologies for the quality of photos my husband snapped these with my iPhone and well we know how that goes. On to the outfit , these J.Crew shorts are a couple of years old and still a favorite of mine. I paired them with this Madewell tee I picked up a few weeks ago - this tee requires no tuck because it sits perfectly on the hips.  I'm always on the hunt for the perfect tee so far this Madewell tee is coming in first next to this  J.Crew tee. What can I say you can never have too many tee's right.

08 / Pardon my french

Southern California weather has been the same since we arrived back in November and I don't think it's going to get any cooler so I've put all my coats away. Sweaters on the other hand are definitely needed especially at night. This Old Navy sweater is not too thick but perfect for the evening when it gets a little chilly. I wore this outfit the other night when my husband and I went to grab dinner. I'm following in Victoria Beckham footsteps and not ever wearing heels again if you follow me on Instagram you probably know this already but it's sneakers and flats from here on out. These Zara sneakers are so comfortable and can pretty much be dressed up or down. In this case throw in a skirt and it's dressed up. 

07 / Denim + white

When I was a little girl my Papa always loved me dressed in all white he said I looked like an angel and maybe that's why I've always had a thing for white. If there's a top in 20 different colors I will most likely go for white there's just something about a crisp white top that looks so chic. If you can pull off white clothing it says two things about yourself 1. you're laundry game is on point. 2. you give zero fucks about the labor day rule. (both of these apply to me -just saying) If I had these Zara sneakers in white believe me they would've been on however I'm waiting to see if someone reading this will buy them for me. To break up the all white ensemble I threw on my go-to denim jacket, I love this jacket I've worn it so many more times than I thought I would. I wasn't big on the denim jacket trend until I found that perfect one thank you Gap designers. This jacket sits perfectly at my hips,  doesn't feel stiff and goes with everything I own it seems. This outfit was perfect for the Sunday stroll in North Park with my husband.

06 / Patio pants on Sunday

I've seen the patio pant trend take over and I decided to take a stab at it - still unsure. I tried these on at J.Crew and fell in love with the look and they were on major sale ($25) so I said what the heck I'll try them out. I tried them on with a few different style tops and I think either a crop top or tucked in  looks best on my pear shape body. I'm still playing around with the hem I haven't decided if I'm going to hem them up a few inches or leave them. I wore this outfit to the market on Sunday and it was perfect for the weather we were having they were comfortable and exactly what I needed on a Sunday.

05 / The perfect tee

I bought this tee at J.Crew a few days ago I'm normally not a fan of their tees because most are quite fitting even if you size up it's still fits funky at least in my experience but this one is different from their usual tees.  The material is pretty thin (think tissue) which is great for those hot days and not to mention it's a crew neck - I love a crew neck. I'm very self conscious about my arms so I like for my tee's to go a little past my bicep which this tee does. I need one in every color STAT. Needless to say this tee has been on repeat from denim shorts to these Old Navy cropped denim.  I am loving Old Navy's Mid-Rise Rockstar jeans they fit just right below your naval which is what i'm digging these days. These cropped denim are super comfy with a little stretch and they have a side zipper at the bottom which gives it just a little edge.

04 / Florals + Straps

On my last Zara visit I spotted this dress on their sale rack and I wasn't sure about the fit it had everything I like in a dress : sleeves, crew neck and not form fitting. I know I'm not the only gal who is self conscious about parts of her body and this dress was a big help and not to mention it was on sale for $22. That's one thing I love about Zara when they have a sale they are very generous with the pricing - thanks Zara! These flats are also from Zara I love their shoes they are always on-trend and very affordable, half the shoes in my closet are from Zara. The only thing Is I wish the straps were adjustable because you can probably tell the straps are a little lose especially around my ankle but either way a great shoe.

03 / The essential flat

I wasn't to sure about this Zara top but once I tried it on I knew it was worth the keep because it can easily be dressed up or dressed down in this case it was perfect for a day of running errands. I picked up these shoes from Old Navy a couple of weeks ago and I can't stop wearing them they are super comfortable.  I love the color and they seem to go with everything which is a win in my book. Old Navy has been bringing it I've scored some great things from there lately. Now lets talk about this bamboo wall - how awesome is it? California has a very diverse plant life and I can't get enough of it.  Remember the days when a white wall was photograph worthy well lets add plant walls to that list shall we.

02 / Sac dress

Sac dresses were invented for those "special days" us women dread once a month. I picked up this dress at Old Navy last week and it was the perfect dress to throw on when you're not feeling like your skinny self. I probably could've gone with an XS but I was looking for something to throw on when i'm running errands or to throw on over a swimsuit. A sac dress is basically sweat pants minus the pants - NOT built to flatter but built for comfort.  I wore this last week for my last cheat day for the next couple of months. Yep this gal is going on a diet, my little sister is getting married in July and I need to get photo ready and maid of honor dress ready. So this dress was perfect for a cheat day that included nachos, tacos, beers and ice cream. Go big or go home right!?

01 / Denim Saturday's

While all my east coasters were wearing parka's on Saturday we were in sunny California wearing denim jackets. In case you're wondering yes I am pretty bitter that Jonas waited till I moved away to take a snow dump in Maryland. Saturday we decided to walk around Fashion Valley (San Diego mall) and kill some time before meeting some friends for dinner. It was a pretty low key day filled with finding some tees 70% off at American Apparel (score!) and browsing the Celine section at Nordstrom. When your husband suggests the mall you don't think you just go ! 

I haven't worn a denim jacket since grade school so I wasn't sure if I was ready to wear one in my 30's. I was looking for one that was broken in and flattering for this 5'2 gal that's when The Gap read my mind and created the perfect denim jacket that goes with everything. I paired this jacket with my favorite denim pants and this broken-in tee from Madewell to tie this look together I added this red scarf for a pop of color.  All together making this the perfect outfit for a day at the mall.

My 2015 style

This was the year for denim I never considered myself a "denim gal" but apparently 2015 was my denim year. It's probably because I finally invested in some great denim all thanks to Madewell. After trying on all their denim style's they had to offer I fell in love with their high waisted skinnies. My style definitely has changed not drastically but it's more casual. Don't get me wrong I still love to dress up however my day to day is more casual. I'm curious to see how my style will change now that I am a west coaster. 

1. I wore this on my Nashville trip and it was perfect for the breezy day. This Gap jacket has been with me for about 4 years and I've definitely used the *bleep out of it. I've always been a scarf gal and  that pop of color went perfect with this neutral outfit. Little did I know I'd find a red wall to match. [scarf, top, jeans, shoes : Madewell / jacket : Gap (old)]

2. These white denim jeans were/ are constantly on rotation they are Old Navy Rockstar denim and are so comfortable & flattering on me I always get asked about them. I wore this to see Billy Joel in concert and it was perfect for Baltimore's hot summer.

3. I wore this outfit for my last night out with my Baltimore gals it was late September and chilly so this Gap denim jacket was perfect. This outfit has all my favorite items the perfect silk top, high waist denim and these fantastic flats I picked up from TopShop just before the trend went out of control. 4. Once again those white denim jeans and those Zara flats that have been so over used but so loved. I wore this outfit for date night with my guy. I found those pink sunnies at Forever 21 for $3 and I love them. This bag oh the bag, I waited 8 months for this bag and it was worth the wait it's the perfect bucket bag believe me I've seen my share of bucket bags and this one it on point.

5. I bought these J.Crew shorts two years ago and I'm so glad they still fit because they are perfect for the summer. I wore this for brunch with the gals and it was right in the middle of summer because my tan is so fresh.  Those Zara sandals are over 4 years old but I can't seem to get rid of them they are my fave even though my soles are pretty much dunzo.

6. These  Old Navy denim shorts and these Birkenstocks were on serious repeat that summer. Basically my summer wardrobe was denim shorts, striped tee and Birkenstocks.

7. I found this striped dress at Forever 21 for $9 needless to say I wore it a lot this summer so much  that I accidentally dried it and it's now a very short dress that I no longer wear.

8. This outfit screams fall doesn't it? Probably because it is , I didn't think these boots would go with much when I got them on major sale at Madewell but they do. They're a dark tan with a greenish tint to them so kind of like a neutral.

Christmas Style

                         


I don't know what your Christmas style looks like but mine is pretty much warm & comfy. We spend our day watching Christmas movies, stuffing our faces and playing board games. Whatever you decide to do I hope it's a memorable one. 

07 // Weekend vibes

This button up is perfect for ninety degree summer days. No your eyes aren't fooling ya I have a dress in the same print (seen here) I loved the print so much I got it twice.  I can't say how much of a staple a short sleeve button up is you can dress it up for work with a pencil skirt or slacks. Dressing it down for the weekend with denim shorts/ pants all in all this top was totally worth it.

06 // The way you do the things you do

I popped into Madewell a few days ago and picked up this dress for a steal $9 yep I had the same reaction. It's not very flattering because it's kind of boxy (fyi this dress will add 20 pounds to your waist / hips) but the material is soft and the fit is perfect for the summer. I wore this out on Sunday for brunch and it was perfect especially with for 85 degree weather.

05 // Summer uniform

My weekends consist of denim shorts, striped shirts , air dried hair, and my trusty Birkenstocks - this is my summer uniform. I was really hesitant to jump on the Birkenstock bandwagon but because of my recent shin problems my doctor insisted I find something with more arch support. After a lot of trying on I finally settled on these. Needless to say I have been living in them for the past month. They have definitely helped my shin problems and I am now a Birken lover.
