Monthly recap

30 June 2014

June you sure did fly by , July is here and you know what that means Christmas is right around the corner. I'm sorry to make you cringe but Christmas is my favorite holiday and I cannot wait for cool weather and Christmas songs.
I started this blog to document my life I would love to be able to look back one day and revisit my life as it was. So when I came across this post via Cocorrina blog and this is exactly what I'd love for a monthly recap, so here's a rough draft of a new series on the blog.

LISTENING : I've had Courtney Barnett album playing on repeat. It's perfect for the summers laying by the beach.
WANTING : I need some sun so I want to go to the beach now.
READING : I just started reading Tina Fey : Bossypants and it's hilarious.
WATCHING : Besides everything on Netflix I just finished Derek with Ricky Gervais and it's hilarious and sweet. It's a must watch!
FOLLOWING : I fell in love with Jasmine Dowling on Instagram and her blog is perfection.
WEARING : Since the heat has arrived I have been living in denim shorts, t-shirts and these J.Crew sandals.
GRATEFUL : For my husband and our new love for nature.
ENJOYING : Riding my bike around the city.
WAITING : For our upcoming San Francisco trip with my family.

Hello March

07 March 2014

So, its my birthday month and I will be in my mid 30's (gasp!). Normally I love my birthday's , I love the feeling of having another year on my side however last year was not a good birthday for me. I now wish I could've redone the day but oh well , lesson learned. My Dad always said to us "making decisions isn't the hardest part , its living with those decisions made" and he was right. I am enjoying my 30's they are way more fun than my 20's. My 20's were all about finding who you are, who you want to be and what you want to be. I'm still asking myself some of those questions however who I am is NOT one of them. Ladies in your 20's if I can give you a piece of advice - do not worry about turning 30 it is and continues to be one of the best decades I've had. I'm comfortable in my skin, I love who I am as a person and I am so appreciative.
This years birthday is going to be a thousand times better, why? For starters my Mom will be in town this weekend and there's talk around my house that this girl will be getting a bike for her birthday.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend see you back here on Monday.

This weekend i (we)...

18 November 2013

This weekend flew by with Thanksgiving just around the corner Saturday was a busy but productive day.We finally unpacked the remainder of the boxes that have been staring at us in our living room and picked up a few things for the loft. With my Dad coming in next week it's definitely pushing us to get this place in order. After a long day of errands we ended our night with a nice walk in the rain and headed to our favorite yogurt place After's. I couldn't have asked for a better end to a long day. Sometimes I forget just how lucky I am and this weekend I remembered.
Cheers to another great week!

Blogiversary

14 August 2013

This look> dress : Forever 21 (old) / shoes : J.Crew Factory / sunnies : Target

Whoa I cannot believe it's been 3 years , where have the years gone? It seems like just yesterday I was getting the courage to take the plunge - the blog plunge. I am so happy about the gal I am today because of blogging. You wouldn't think having a blog could change you but it does and it has. I started this blog not for fame or recognition simply as therapy. Three years ago I was a military wife who's husband was on the longest deployment ever, living far away from family and friends and all I had to look forward to was rushing home and seeing what Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere was going to talk about on her blog. After following many bloggers document their life with outfits and wonderful pictures , I decided I was ready to share mine as well. And that I have and still love sharing with whom ever stops by to see what good ol' Myrna is up to. Whether if it's what I'm currently listening to, what I wish I could buy, and what I'm wearing I love having my little space on the information super highway. Thank you for your all your support , wonderful comments and most of all for visiting my space.

The weekend that was...

07 July 2013

This weekend was filled with beautiful weather and our first Nationals game. Since we've already been to an Orioles game we thought it would only be fair to see a Nats game. Both games we've attended Nats and Orioles they've won, we must be good luck or something. Our patio is also good luck because our tomatoes have been booming. Every Saturday as I sit on our patio to have my cup of coffee I notice a handful of tomatoes ready to jump in my salad. We were blessed with an amazing weekend and I'm excited for tomorrow and the next day I have some fun outfits for you this week. Hope to see ya back here tomorrow.

Picnic at the park

23 June 2013

Saturday we woke up and decided to pick - up some lunch and head over to the park. A picnic to me is packing up some fresh fruit, sandwiches , drinks and some dessert however my husband thought it was too much work for a Saturday morning. So we grabbed some fast food and headed to the park. The weather was so perfect we played some music, sat on a blanket , ate some yummy food and enjoyed our afternoon outdoors. After lunch we walked around the park watching all the geese that surrounded this park and became kids again and played on the swings. It was pure perfection from the weather to our walk I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the day.

Bahamas Part II

17 June 2013

I figured I would give you guys a break in between my Bahamas pictures so here is the second leg of them. Our days were spent waking up around 8:00 a.m. , having breakfast , laying on the beach , lunch around 1p.m.  playing or napping by the pool till around 5p.m. , ending each day with dinner and drinks by the beach. You would think after day 2 we would have been over it , for me even after day 5 I wanted to add more days to our trip. I fell in love with the beach and I was heart broken when we left.

{Yellow is perfect for this summer especially with THIS J.Crew linen top }

Is it me or has June flown by ? It seems like every Thursday I find myself telling my husband "woosh it's already Thursday, has this week flew by or what?" This week was pretty relaxing especially with all the rain we have been getting it's forced us to stay indoors and ingest about 5,000 pounds of sugar. Ok exaggeration 2,500 pounds of sugar. This weekend we will be on the hunt for a new living room rug and going to see The XX & Grizzly Bear at Meriweather Post Pavilion. I hope you have a great weekend.

{My husband and I have our ups / downs with candy - this week was our down }

{Yesterday I was excited to come home to my new summer sandal from Zara }

{If you update your summer wardrobe why not your work out gear }

{We anxiously waited 4 business days to have our waterproof disposable camera developed . I miss the days of developing film - anticipation at it's best }

Bahamas - Part I

02 June 2013

For our ten year anniversary we decided to go on a much needed vacation. The past ten years we have lived away from home (Texas) and so every chance we would get we would make our way home, those were our vacations. This year we decided to go somewhere relaxing, where the only thing we had to think about was what swimsuit to wear. If you follow me on Twitter you would've stumbled upon my angry tweets on vacation day 1, our flights were canceled. To make the long story short we were suppose to arrive in Georgetown Monday at 1pm. Instead United Airlines thought otherwise and we arrived Tuesday at 8am. After THAT headache, we found ourselves at the most beautiful, clearest beach we've ever seen. When my eyes saw this beach, I was in awe of it's beauty.  The whitest sand, bluest water and perfect weather was our heaven for six days.

We stayed at the Emerald Bay Resort and it was beautiful. The grounds were filled with palm trees, hammocks, sparkling pools, restaurants, great staff ,and even a bakery. We were treated like royalty for six days with breakfast in bed, clean room, and attentive staff.

 Our vacation consisted of lounging by the pool or beach. I would flip through magazines and finally finished reading Mindy Kaling - Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? . Even though we lathered up with 50 SPF we still managed to get extremely burned / tan. It's ok sun we needed the color.

The weather was perfect mid 80's with a good breeze. Although at 5pm everyday it would rain for about 20 min. which we would take cover under these cabanas by the pool watch the rain and drink Emerald Dreams. I am not a liquor drinker however this drink changed my ways for six days.
Packing for this trip was so easy. My outfits consisted of swimsuits, cover ups, t-shirts, shorts, and the occasional dress. I was beyond lucky when I stumbled upon this dress at the Goodwill a couple of months ago, for $6. It was perfect to throw on over my swimsuit. Hats were a different story , since it was a little breezy hats were impossible to keep on.

Stay tuned for more Bahamas pictures next week.
