Picnic at the park

23 June 2013

Saturday we woke up and decided to pick - up some lunch and head over to the park. A picnic to me is packing up some fresh fruit, sandwiches , drinks and some dessert however my husband thought it was too much work for a Saturday morning. So we grabbed some fast food and headed to the park. The weather was so perfect we played some music, sat on a blanket , ate some yummy food and enjoyed our afternoon outdoors. After lunch we walked around the park watching all the geese that surrounded this park and became kids again and played on the swings. It was pure perfection from the weather to our walk I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend the day.

This weekend the weather was amazing and we had a special birthday to celebrate . We spent the day in Dupont Circle for our first Shake Shack experience , walking around downtown DC stopping for some cupcakes and went to our first museum here - Spy Museum (birthday boy request). I enjoy this city so much we've been numerous times and every single time we always stumble upon something new. Should I also mention I finally broke in my J.Crew flats. How was your weekend?

This weekend I was a quite the shopper, J.Crew Factory Store was having a 50% off entire store and if you know me I'm a sucker for a sale especially when it comes to J.Crew. Other than these items I scored our weekend was pretty relaxed. Saturday the weather was nice enough to enjoy fajita night on our new patio furniture and some good boxing matches on HBO. My kind of weekend.

Loving H&M's beauty products.

This weekend was so great my Mom was in town so we did some shopping , eating and she even went to the gym with me. Having her here is bittersweet because I know it's only for a quick minute before she's on her way back home but we made the most of her visit. Here are a few highlights from my weekend : fresh tulips brightening up my home, sequence gem I picked up at a consignment store , and if you're ever in DC craving tacos District Taco downtown DC is a must. I wish I would've snapped a pic of my delicious tacos however my stomach took over my body and my memory was left at home along with my SD card.

A weekend with Atlantic City

17 January 2013

This past weekend we made our way to Atlantic City, NJ for a concert. The drive wasn't bad except for all the toll fees. This is our first time living in the East Coast and it's constantly full of surprises. The drive was only about 2 hours and we arrived Friday afternoon during a down pour. We stayed at Bally's Hotel & Casino which was right on the boardwalk and our room had a great ocean view. The room was ehhh but I was most excited for the wallpaper in our bathroom. We spent the weekend bundled up and enjoying salt water taffy and the roulette table. Unfortunately we left with possible cavities and empty pockets. Like I kept telling my husband "the house always wins." Yeah Casino is one of my favorite movies.

This weekend we drove over to Virginia Beach, VA  to visit some friends. The wonderful thing about the East Coast is how close everything is. Growing up in Texas I'm use to extended trips. The weather was gorgeous this weekend we enjoyed great food and walks to the beach {Chesapeake Bay}. I also finally had the chance of seeing where my husband has spent many deployments on, Naval ships. I size every ship next to the Titanic, so when my husband was on the USS Bataan I asked "is it bigger than the Titanic?" he chuckled and said "way bigger!" This weekend I finally saw these ships up close and WHOA- they are enormous! I always knew they were huge but seeing them up close justifies it.

This weekend went by too fast we enjoyed my Mister's homemade burgers Octoberfest Samuel Adams and date night at Johnny Rockets. Johnny Rockets was a bit of a bust for me it was my turn to pick the place and I pictured a night of great diner burgers, fries and a good malt shake. The wait was never ending for us. Food was ok - not worth the build up.
It was also that time of the year again Austin City Limits Music Festival was happening this weekend and thank you for who ever thought of live streaming. Saturday evening I had the chance to watch Jack White shake his thang in Austin in my pj's and a Shock Top in hand. Can't think of a better way to spend my weekend.
What did you do this weekend?

check out a clip of his performance {HERE}

This weekend we took one last trip to Pensacola, FL. We have lived in the south for over 4 years and I can't believe we just now discovered our love for this small city. Saturday we woke up early had our usual Saturday breakfast : blueberry muffins & coffee . Applied some SPF to our bodies and headed to the beach. Thank goodness for the 50 % chance of rain because we had the beach to ourselves. We laid out our beach towels, put some tunes on and just enjoyed the sound of the waves. Hello relaxing weekend.

Our local grocery store Winn Dixie has a huge selection of beer and they allow you to make your own 6 pack.

Thrifted this great polka dot button up for only $1.95 - LOVE

Since our weeks here in the South are dwendling down we are taking in all the great food and fun sights. Saturday I woke up with an idea either I dreamed it or it just came to me at 8:30 am I can't remember which one however needless to say I am excited about it. What's the idea? Since my husband is in the military and we obviously have moved around some and will continue to move around for the next 11 years. I've decided to drive around my current city and take pictures of everything that I see everyday. My hope is to combine all these photos into a book .{not published obviously} A book that we can look back at and remember the city we lived in from 2007-2012. My camera will get over used i'm sure but we'll finally see what this Canon DSLR is made of .

This weekend we spent some time in Pensacola, FL . We did the beach Saturday morning and spent the afternoon walking around downtown enjoying their quiet streets and brewed beer. One thing Pensacola did have was great beer. I don't experiment very much when it comes to beer but we were able to try samples which apparently I came to the conclusion that I really like wheat beer. Even though Pensacola is only an hour and a half away driving down for the weekend still gave us the feeling of being on vacation. Sleeping in a comfy hotel bed, enjoying the change of scenery and beer tasting was just what we needed this weekend.
