Bahamas Part II

17 June 2013

I figured I would give you guys a break in between my Bahamas pictures so here is the second leg of them. Our days were spent waking up around 8:00 a.m. , having breakfast , laying on the beach , lunch around 1p.m.  playing or napping by the pool till around 5p.m. , ending each day with dinner and drinks by the beach. You would think after day 2 we would have been over it , for me even after day 5 I wanted to add more days to our trip. I fell in love with the beach and I was heart broken when we left.

Bahamas - Part I

02 June 2013

For our ten year anniversary we decided to go on a much needed vacation. The past ten years we have lived away from home (Texas) and so every chance we would get we would make our way home, those were our vacations. This year we decided to go somewhere relaxing, where the only thing we had to think about was what swimsuit to wear. If you follow me on Twitter you would've stumbled upon my angry tweets on vacation day 1, our flights were canceled. To make the long story short we were suppose to arrive in Georgetown Monday at 1pm. Instead United Airlines thought otherwise and we arrived Tuesday at 8am. After THAT headache, we found ourselves at the most beautiful, clearest beach we've ever seen. When my eyes saw this beach, I was in awe of it's beauty.  The whitest sand, bluest water and perfect weather was our heaven for six days.

We stayed at the Emerald Bay Resort and it was beautiful. The grounds were filled with palm trees, hammocks, sparkling pools, restaurants, great staff ,and even a bakery. We were treated like royalty for six days with breakfast in bed, clean room, and attentive staff.

Our vacation consisted of lounging by the pool or beach. I would flip through magazines and finally finished reading Mindy Kaling - Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? . Even though we lathered up with 50 SPF we still managed to get extremely burned / tan. It's ok sun we needed the color.

The weather was perfect mid 80's with a good breeze. Although at 5pm everyday it would rain for about 20 min. which we would take cover under these cabanas by the pool watch the rain and drink Emerald Dreams. I am not a liquor drinker however this drink changed my ways for six days.
Packing for this trip was so easy. My outfits consisted of swimsuits, cover ups, t-shirts, shorts, and the occasional dress. I was beyond lucky when I stumbled upon this dress at the Goodwill a couple of months ago, for $6. It was perfect to throw on over my swimsuit. Hats were a different story , since it was a little breezy hats were impossible to keep on.

Stay tuned for more Bahamas pictures next week.

Pittsburgh : Take Two

10 April 2013

We headed to Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago to catch one of our favorite bands Grizzly Bear play at Carnegie Hall. One of the benefits of living on the East Coast is how close everything is, from Maryland to Pittsburgh <without traffic> is a 3 1/2 hour drive. However we drove off Friday at 3pm so that we could arrive early and we could have a nice dinner but traffic had other plans. We stood in traffic for 2 hours without moving because a semi full of corn tipped over . So we didn't make it to our hotel till 10:30pm . Since we stayed downtown we thought we would be in the middle of it all , but downtown was not what we thought it was. There wasn't any shopping malls ,very few eateries and no night life. Apparently all the night life is in Squirrel Hill , Oakland and other areas.
Saturday morning we were anxious to go off and explore, the weather was nice and sunny so we spent all afternoon exploring. That's one of the benefits of loving music as much as we do because we get to explore new cities and catch a good live show- win win! We enjoyed the bridges, stadiums , and had the best buffalo chicken sandwich at Jerome Bettis Grille 36.

Pittsburgh with a view

07 April 2013

Hello Monday, how was your weekend? Ours was great not to mention the wonderful weather we had , yep it hit 67 degrees here in Maryland and we enjoyed every minute of it. I finally got around to editing our Pittsburgh pictures and it was so hard to narrow it down because the 'Burgh' was full of great sights. I will be sharing our downtown pictures later this week but I had to share this wonderful little spot we found in Mt. Washington called The Grandview Saloon & Coal Hill Steakhouse . Since we had done a ton of walking around we decided to stop in grab a some drinks and oh my were we in for a surprise. As we walked up the stairs to the bar we saw the most amazing view of downtown Pittsburgh. The weather was so nice on that Saturday we were able to grab a table on their deck and have a Shock Top (me) and Samuel Adams (hubby) with downtown Pittsburgh as our view. If you happen to be in Pittsburgh head over to Mt. Washington and grab a drink or steak, we didn't eat there but the food looked delicious.

The weekend that was ...

22 October 2012

This weekend we drove over to Virginia Beach, VA  to visit some friends. The wonderful thing about the East Coast is how close everything is. Growing up in Texas I'm use to extended trips. The weather was gorgeous this weekend we enjoyed great food and walks to the beach {Chesapeake Bay}. I also finally had the chance of seeing where my husband has spent many deployments on, Naval ships. I size every ship next to the Titanic, so when my husband was on the USS Bataan I asked "is it bigger than the Titanic?" he chuckled and said "way bigger!" This weekend I finally saw these ships up close and WHOA- they are enormous! I always knew they were huge but seeing them up close justifies it.

Weekend according to my iPhone

23 July 2012

I've been lucky enough to spend the last two weekends in Florida. Luckily we live a hop, skip and a jump away from this wonderful place. Even though there's been some rain thank goodness it hasn't stayed long. Spending countless hours in the water, laying out and laughing with friends - it was rough to wake up this morning and head to work.
How was your weekend?

Sun hat dream

16 July 2012

hat/sunnies/swim suit : Target

The weekend started off with storms and lots of rain- what I didn't pack for. Thank goodness Sunday turned my frown upside down. Jumping out of bed Sunday morning and looking out the window seeing sunshine felt like Christmas morning. I started the coffee pot warmed up some muffins and rushed out the door to take in the rays. If you follow me on Instagram your feed was full of pics of me and my sun hat- my apologies. Even though my hair and face wasn't done up wearing this hat transformed me into one of those great hair days or wearing your favorite dress. You know every girl has that one dress that when worn you can't help but snap a bunch of pics because that dress makes
you feel that good.

Home sweet home

27 June 2012

pants : NY&Co. | tee : concert tee | oxfords : Urban Outfitters | headwrap : F21 | watch : Warby Parker (Huxley)

Something about a concert tee that makes me feel at home.  maybe because of my love for music or the memories the tee brings me. i've been lucky enough to have been a part of some great shows, although i still have a few i'd like to cross off my list. wearing a concert tee can be tricky at times however when paired with some classic oxfords a pop of color on the lips the look comes together.
