I Thrifted and scored ...

31 January 2012

This past weekend the mister and I spontaneously decided to make a trip home to Texas. Saturday afternoon my Mom and I went thrifting and as I was beginning to lose steam, I glanced over and saw these two fuzzy guys all alone waiting to be purchased. I'm usually not into faux fur however, looking at the price tag on these two the fashion gods would have slapped me silly if I would have left without buying them. So now I just hope that it snows in the south.

Top: Forever 21 | Pants/Clutch/Ring : Thrifted | Booties : Steve Madden | Bracelet: Target

Monday I had to go to training for work , total SNOOZEFEST. Since the training was held at our main office, I decided to put color/pattern away for the day and wear something comfy and fun ...cue this outfit. Now lets talk about this large clutch I bought at my local Goodwill for $.75, it has so much room. I had a regular size note pad, 2 highlighters, 2 pens, lipstick and gloss, my phone, my keys and I left with all this and a folder full of training materials. I'm sure many fashionistas have been doing this for years and i'm just catching on. lol

FYI: My co-worker just pointed out to me the other day that I do something
funny with my right foot when I stand... I never realized it till NOW.

I found this top this Friday at my local Goodwill for $2.49 it's 100% silk and has buttons in the back and looks like a normal button up top backwards. I am still undecided on the sleeves to either make this short, 3/4 or keep as is. Thoughts??? The pattern is so fun it was screaming out to me, it reminded me of my Mom's old curtains she use to have when I was younger. So on this Friday Goodwill trip I left with this wonderful top, a black pencil skirt and a Calvin Klein belt all for just $6.49. A full outfit for less than $7 you can't go wrong.

Thrifty Saturday

31 August 2011

Once again I hit it big at the Goodwill. I know you think Goodwill and cringe but lately I have found some real hidden gems. Most of the time I go in there with no agenda really just looking to see what sticks out or what I find. So, Saturday morning after a yummy breakfast I went thrifting. My first stop is ALWAYS belts, still hunting down a leopard belt but that search still continues. I first browse the skirts, then I transition into blouses and then I make my way towards the one mirror , that's right ONE mirror they have. I hoard that mirror like there's no tomorrow as I try everything on OVER my clothes. Once that little fashion show is done, I browse their accessories section where I found the most amazing statement piece necklace ever and ladies you are gonna DIE when I tell you how much I paid.... I bought this puppy for $2.99. That's right TWO DOLLLARS AND NINETY NINE CENTS. I cannot wait to sport this bad boy this mini 4 day vaca I have starting in t minus 2 days. Here is what I left with on Saturday.

psst. check out the RED pencil skirt that I scored for $2.49 .

Thrifty Saturday

08 August 2011

Saturday I woke up had my morning coffee and toast and was ready for my hunt. First stop was my local Goodwill .  I try to pop in once a month to see what I kind of hidden gems I can find. And well the thrift gods answered my prayers. First stop were the belt section and I found 3 amazing belts 1 black and 2 navy. As I made my way to the skirts this mint colored pencil skirt caught my eye , although it looked a little small I decided to grab it hoping that it would fit. As I continued to browse I stumbled upon this navy blue pleated maxi skirt and I could feel my smile getting bigger and bigger. I rarely browse through their tank top section and boy am I glad that I did cause in doing so I found my most fave piece a sleeve-less gold blouse with a wonderful neck line. Thank you thrift store gods because everything fit PERFECTLY. I made my way to the register I look on at their accessories and sure enough I find this wonderful gold broach for .89 cents!!!!
 So : 3 belts + 2 skirts + 1 gold blouse +1 gold broach
+ military discount :) thanks to my hubby = $14.97
Outfit posts to come :)
Have a wonderful week... M.
