New Music Monday

04 August 2013

These Nebraska boys also known as Desparecidos  have come with the thunder yet again with their new 7" with  Te Amo CamilaVallejo and The Ultimate Man. You can stream both on Pitchfork here. I've been a fan of Conor Oberst who is the handsome gentleman on the lefts since I heard him sing Road To Joy with Bright Eyes. This Omaha guy never stops he's always making great music whether it's with Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, The Faint, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Commander Venus, Park Ave, The Magentas and Desparecidos. This guy loves to play and he can. Not only is he a musician he's one of the founding members of  Saddle Creek Records based out of Omaha, Nebraska which has released bands like Rilo Kiley, Monsters of Folk, Desparecidos, Bright Eyes and Tokyo Police Club. Desparecidos is a little edgier and a lot more harder than his other groups however it's definitely worth taking a listen to or even catching them live.

Band of the week

25 July 2013

When I heard Parquet Courts on SiriusXMU I did two things cranked up my radio and downloaded their album Light Up Gold. They emerged in 2011 and I cannot believe I just found out about them a few months ago. They remind me of the Ramones and Television, I know I know a bit extreme but these four guys from Brooklyn New York have an old punk sound to them. I can hear the Ramones influence in songs like Stoned and Starving & Borrowed Time. I love when I get to catch new bands as they emerge while they still have a small following and play small venues. We will be seeing these guys tonight at Ottobar in Baltimore and I am excited to see what they bring to the stage.
You can hear full album HERE .

New Music Preview

10 September 2012

The time is here ladies and gents ... it's finally Sept. which means cooler weather and more importantly we are 7 days away from Grizzly Bear's new album Shields to be released
{Sept. 18,2012}. I couldn't be more excited for this album. Hearing Sleeping Ute for the first time put my anxiety level on high . I've missed these boys and their soothing melodies. I missed my opportunity a few years back to check them out at SXSW '09. Redemption is finally here. I will be seeing Ed Droste, Chris Taylor, Christopher Bear and Daniel Rossen in D.C. at 9:30 Club in less than 10 days.
Wait no more, this morning NPR-Music gave us a little early present {preview} of  Shields. Plug your head phones in and enjoy Grizzly Bear's master piece. Your Welcome.

Chic chick - Fiona Apple

She's back !!!! The blue eyed angry girl who slept to dream and became a Criminal for her enraged lyrics is back and I couldn't help but jump for joy when I read the news on Pitchfork. After her seven year hiatus she was once again causing a frenzy when she released the name of her upcoming album "The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do"   , coming out this June. Wednesday she played an eleven song set at SXSW (here). Afrer posting upcoming tour dates on her website Fiona Apple proves she still has it, every show SOLD OUT. I am not at all surprised, I only hope that I get a chance to finally see my girl in action. While we await the new album here is a peek at her at SXSW performance

Have a great weekend.

21 September 2011

Last week I went to see Bright Eyes in New Orleans at House of Blues downtown. I was introduced to them by my older brother Richard three years ago. Although I have seen Conor Oberst (lead singer/writer) a few times before , I had never seen him with Bright Eyes. If you've never heard of them you must not waste anymore time go to iTunes and download their newest CD The People's Key.
Simply AMAZING live.
Concerts can be tricky when it comes to what to wear. Comfort is always key. Comfortable shoes is a must and NEVER wear the T-shirt of the band that you are going to see - big NO NO. I usually go for comfy jeans, loose tee and my converse. However this time since it has been so hot out I decided to dress it up a bit in hopes that if I bumped into my crush ♥ Conor Oberst ♥ I would make a great first impression. Sadly I did not see him as I stalked I mean walked around down town.

So tell me what do you wear to a concert?

Skirt/belt : Thrift Store  Tank : Gap Sandals : Dolce Vita Glasses : Warby Parker

Getting me through the week

16 August 2011

Happy Monday ! Starting my week is always the toughest for me, starting with Monday. After a fun weekend getting back to the grind is always dreadful. If you've made a pit stop at my blog your probably wondering "where are the outfit posts?" No worries i'm in the process of addressing this tiny issue, so please bare with me. I will be purchasing a tri-pod this weekend and get this blog movin. I have so many fun creative ideas for this little baby. I hope you guys stick around and watch this grow. I hope to share with you my two loves of my life: Fashion and Music! (besides the hubby, my niece and my kitties) Please strap yourself in and enjoy this ride with me.

Getting me through this week is this fun band that goes by the name Black Kids from Jacksonville, FL who have been around since 2008. I stumbled across them while listening to the wonderful Pandora. I purchased their album Partie Traumatic and it kept me going all day. Stop by their website and tell me what you think?
