i'm on a stripe high

04 July 2012

top : Old Navy || shorts : Urban Outfitters || shoes : Dolce Vita || clutch : Coach
 sunnies : Target || earrings/bracelet : Banana Republic Factory Outlet || ring : F21

Recognize these shorts ? they were on last weeks Save and Splurge.  these shorts have been on repeat for the past week - what can i say i'm a sucker for stripes. Stripes are the new neautral.  they can be paired with any color or pattern. horizontal stripes normally would make me feel and look wider however this waist line sits a little higher cinching my waist and slimming down the hips & thighs.  i'm officially a fan of a high waist! you may have already noticed - i'm a little late with the trends but once i find one i like, i'm all in.  my all in trends so far are stripes, colored denim & now high waisted shorts.
On another note... i hope your day is filled with fireworks, red-white-blue and love for your country.
Happy 4th of July everyone!!!

save or splurge

I've been eyeing these  JCrew shorts since i spotted them in their catalog, but $65 for a pair of shorts seemed a bit much for this gal.  a couple of weeks ago i visited Urban Outfitters and spotted these  in their sale rack however they had sold out of my size but luckly i was able to perchase them online.  today they arrived! i am happy with my purchase - the high waist along with the length will compliment any shape. i cannot wait to wear them this weekend.

My Saturday

This weekend I finally did it, I jumped on the color denim wagon. I've tried my share of colored denim and finally I was able to find a pair that I can work with. Our local mall here in Mississippi isn't the most up to date mall however you can find the occasional score. I walked into NY & Co. or what I still call Lerner's and browsed their sale rack and tada there it was colored denim for $9.99. I was hesitant at first then I tried them on and yay they fit perfect. Happy gal over here.

Watch : Michael Kors | Glasses : Warby Parker

So I have been wanting these JCrew -Quincy short boots which are pretty pricey and so one Saturday evening as I was watching an all day marathon of 48 Hours Mysteries I stumbled upon these Dolce Vitas the shoe lover inside me said BUY BUY BUY !!! It just so happen that the night before I read one of the best posts regarding blogging and debt (which I think every shopaholic should read) by the lovely Lynzy from Sparkling Footsteps and took her advice and put in my favorites and said if my size is availabe come pay day then these will be MINE. Then came the longest week ... Well Lynzy it worked. These boots waited for me and i'll be happy to say that the boots and I will live happily ever after because not only are they comfy but IN YOUR FACE Quincy boots ! ha !

Splurge or Save

Since the weather seems to be getting colder each day i've been cruising the city in chunky sweaters. Sweaters are so easy to pair with skirts (here and here) shorts with tights or jeans. I'm quite certain that they will transition nicely to Spring. I received my JCrew catalog in the mail last week and saw this sequin sweater and fell in love. As I began to browse different stores on line I came across a similar sweater at Forever 21. Forever 21 always carries fun , stylish, trendy  inexpensive clothes . I am torn between these two the only difference I can see is the sequince. So I suppose my questions should be : To Sequin or Not ?? Decisions decisions.

Coat Splurge

30 October 2011

Zara - Crossover Coat $169

Zara - Double Breasted Coat  $129

JCrew - Double Cloth Metro Coat  $298

JCrew - Toggle Coat  $325

Since winter is here what is keeping you warm out there ?
I am a Texas gal and Texas weather can surprise you from time to time but never really invested in a coat , not until 2009 that is. One of the benefits of my husband being in the military is we get to move all over the world. In 2007 we moved to Seattle, WA. left Texas in December in a 2004 Ford Focus , a dog and a cat, both in flip flops and sweaters NO COAT. Arriving 2 days later we quickly realized we were NOT prepared for the winter. Washington winters that is. So that same day we drove to REI and we each bought a North Face. After a couple of winters there I realized a North Face is practical however it is not a coat. So in 2009 I finally invested in a nice coat , of course from JCrew (similar to the Double-Cloth Metro coat). The price ($299) was a shock to me at first but I can say that I have never regreted it. Because I have continued to use it every winter since 09. I have it dry cleaned every spring because I have two cats,(at the time of purchase I got it in black not realizing a couple years later I would be the proud Mama to two kitties). If you have thought about it and haven't been too sure about making a splurge on a coat , I highly recommend you take the plunge and buy yourself a nice warm coat. Because just like the neccessities we all women should have in our closets ie. little black dress, white crisp shirt,  a great pair of jeans etc. consider a coat an investment.
